[englisch/amerikanisch, 'trʌmpɪt'pjænəʊstaɪl], von Earl Hines (1905-1983) in Anlehnung an Louis Armstrongs Trompeten-Spielweise Ende der Zwanzigerjahre eingeführter Klavierstil, gekennzeichnet durch Einzelstimmenspiel (keine Akkorde) in der rechten Hand mit »hornartiger« Phrasierung, Oktaven und Tremoli zur Tonverlängerung; fand in den Dreißigerjahren zahlreiche Nachahmer.
